One site. Work done right.
Flipping through a directory and calling multiple contractors just to find the one
or two that can actually do a job is an inefficient way to find help. Instead of
that process, we hope that a simple post on Workpost.com
will be able to accomplish more with less time spent searching and less aggravation.
Make a post and let the contractors, freelancers and other potential work seekers
contact you!
To assist service providers reaching out to potential clients and customers, we
recently added the Workpost Directory to our website. Unlike some directories and
online rating-systems, Workpost listings are entirely user generated and maintained
by the service providers themselves. Directory members are also available to be
reviewed by other Workpost users. To help pros deal with bad clients + reviews (you
just can't satisfy some people, no matter how hard you try), we have also built
in a response/rebuttal system. We want to see fair, balanced assessments of work
completed and hope that everyone will take the review system seriously.
Launched in July, 2008, Workpost.com Version 2.0 remains a clear demonstration of
our core values: Keep it Free, Keep it Simple, Be Efficient, and Be Effective.
Keep it Free
We plan to keep our base functionality free for all users. In our own work lives,
we find companies who charge high fees for leads, unreliable "prescreening"
services, basic memberships or take percentages of bids and profits unnecessary
and we don't use them. There are better ways to find work. We want to operate
efficiently without skimming money from jobs or charging contractors and freelancers
just because we passed a lead to them. As a business, we need to make money but
we believe better business models exist that are capable of turning a profit.
Keep it Simple
Let’s face it, not everyone is computer savvy. We want everyone who visits Workpost.com
to have a good experience, including people who aren't computer experts. Far
too often, users have to go through a complicated sign-up process and pages of confusing
information to get something simple accomplished. At Workpost, all we ask is that
our users sign up with a username and valid e-mail address. The process for posting
work, searching and browsing should be easy for everyone, regardless of technical
expertise.
Be Efficient
We've tried to make the site easy to navigate. There are many ways to accomplish
the same thing as you search and browse through postings. Anywhere you see a search
button, click and you’ll get results. We're also working to simplify our work
categories to prevent overlap. We want users to be able to get information quickly
and efficiently.
Be Effective
We hope that Workpost.com will help change the way people get things done for the
better. As we develop the site, each change should improve the usefulness of the
service.
Why Free Services?
Visitors often ask how we can offer free services. How can Workpost make
money? The short answer is that there are many ways to generate revenue and create
value when a site has web-traffic. Ads are certainly one way to make money but not the only way.
Not at all. The more people who are posting, searching and using Workpost, the more
services we will be able to add in the future. For free.
If you like what you see, please help spread the word about Workpost. We're new
and we don’t have loads of marketing dollars to get noticed.
